Started his life-long musical journey in Ohio.
A graduate of the University of Pacific Music Conservatory (Dave Brubeck Institute).
He currently teaches private piano lessons in Santa Barbara, California, where he has lived since the early '90s.
Mel is a very gifted teacher, pianist, and composer. He has many years of experience as a performer both "in concert" and as a studio musician.
Be it solo piano, small ensemble, or big band, Mel is equally adept.
Mel has students of all ages and levels, ranging in age from 8 to 90.

Taking classical piano lessons as a teenager, I developed a love and respect for the classics. It's all music - plain and simple! Human beings making *something* from nothing and trying to make the most beautiful, emotional, coolest, enlightened, artistic, rhythmic, and creative expressions that Humans can make.
I have only one question as a listener: does it move me?
All music hits me in the same places: the head, the heart, and sometimes the butt, and it really doesn't matter what style its categorized as.
